Technology Tools & Strategies to Support Literacy & Executive Function: 

Engage and Include ALL Learners, Including Neurodiverse Learners & Learners with disabilities. Executive Function & Literacy challenges can limit functional capabilities in all areas of occupation for Neurodiverse individuals with Dyslexia, ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Autism, Nonverbal Learning Disability, as well as other disabilities. Students & adults alike can experience difficulties that lead to frustration and shutdown or other behaviors. Executive Function & Literacy skills are also necessary for Successful Transition to Middle School, High School, Post-Secondary Education, the Workplace, and the Community. Join this engaging webinar series to learn Technologies, Tools & Implementation Strategies to promote Autonomy, Confidence, and Independence! Leverage technology to support more learners, especially if you are short staffed. Utilizing these technologies supports UDL, Accessible learning environments & personalized learning, as well as remediation, differentiation, and accommodation. Many of the technologies shared also support learners who are low vision/ blind, and learners with CVI, physical disabilities and ID. Parents can benefit from attending and utilizing the recording to support their child with homework as well as tools for the classroom, home school, or virtual learning. If you are a staff professional, consultant, therapist or coach, these skills & tools will add to your knowledge and toolkit for working with students and families. College students & adult learners will benefit from attending and learning hands on! All webinars will be recorded and shared with registered participants.

This webinar series will explore a wealth of Tools & Strategies for Organization, Time Management, Focus & Attention, Reading and Writing support including comprehension & written expression, Accessible Educational Materials (AEM), Math, Short Term and Working Memory, Research and Study Skills & Tools, Note-Taking, Emotional Regulation, Behavior supports for Impulsivity & Self-Regulation, High Tech & Light Tech will be shared; ALL devices and platforms will be addressed (Chromebooks, iPads, Microsoft, Android, Mac & PC). Plan to bring your device(s) of choice to learn and follow along. An abundance of resources & materials will be shared to revisit, review, practice and share. All technologies shared are vetted & COPPA compliant. A certificate of participation is provided.

Successful Transition to College & Work- Accommodations, Laws & Assistive Technology:

Transition from High School to college and/ or the workplace is a significant time in a student’s life, future planning and educational career. This engaging webinar series will inform participants of process, strategies, technology and resources to help ensure that the transition is a successful one! Learn the difference between HS, post-secondary, and workplace laws & discuss individual’s rights. When to start, What to ask for & What documentation is required. Learn what accommodations are available in college and the workplace. 

AT demonstrations of various devices, tools, apps, software, and adaptive equipment will be provided. Learn how to support Literacy, Math, Accessible documents and books (AEM), Note Taking for school or meetings, scheduling and reminders, task management, and Sensory & Physical support in college and the workplace. Support for various disabilities will be presented including Cognitive, Dyslexia, LD, Executive Function, Blind, Low Vision, Physical, and Deaf/Hard of Hearing. We will discuss the importance of self-advocacy skills, communication with professors and instructors, meeting with counselors, confidentiality, & questions and paperwork involved.

Many individuals are not aware of the various accommodations provided in college or the workplace, and how to access them. An abundance of resources and videos will also be shared for participants to utilize immediately.  This information is incredibly helpful for high school students, adults with disabilities, educators & special educators, technology integrators, parents, transition coordinators, Vocational Rehabilitation counselors, school counselors/ advisors, administrators, and related therapists.

Facilitator: Diana Petschauer is an Assistive Technologist, Consultant & Managing Director of AT for Education & Access4Employment. She manages her multi-disciplinary team of expert consultants who provide AT, Ed Tech, AAC & Accessibility Services for students & adults to access Education and the Workplace. Diana has over 20 years of experience in Assistive Tech in K-12, Post-Secondary & Adult services. She is a presenter & trainer nationally & internationally as well as a service provider for individuals of all ages. Prior to her business, Diana was the AT Specialist at the University of New Hampshire, Student Accessibility Services, and she started her career in public Special Education services, where she first discovered the significant & positive difference that Assistive Technology provides.
