Using Technology To Mitigate Cognitive Disabilities

A 2013 ruling by the Department of Labor established a baseline for federal contractors to have 7% of their workforce be individuals with disabilities. Additionally, passage by the U.S. House and Senate of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) demonstrates a growing emphasis on hiring more individuals with disabilities.

However, for this trend to be successful for businesses, they must improve their recruitment and retention of these individuals.

Come learn about the best educational apps to engage all young learners who are developing foundational literacy skills.
Bring your iPad or iPad mini to follow along as apps are demonstrated thoroughly, and realistic implementation strategies are discussed for individual and group instruction.
The educational apps that you will learn about include beginning writing skills (correct letter formation), phonics (phonetic spelling), beginning reading skills (direction, phonetics, sight words, interactive reading, interactive storytelling and creative story writing; social stories), rhyming, patterns, AAC (Augmentative Communication & Literacy), foundational math, telling time, counting, life cycles, nursery rhymes, taking turns and more!

Google for Education- New Hampshire Summit!

The first Google Apps for Education Summit in New Hampshire is a fantastic two day event with sessions from Google staff, Google Certified Teachers and Google Apps EDU Certified trainers. In addition there will be a Chromebooks playground for the duration of the conference.

All individuals need access to professional and social networking for employment, education, learning, communicating, and more.


The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Accessibility and Innovation Initiative is hosting an event called “Accessing Social Media” on July 17, 2014 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the FCC Headquarters in Washington, DC. The event is free and open to the public. Representatives from government agencies, disability advocacy groups, technology companies and members of the public will discuss tools and best practices for making social media accessible.
